born in Florence. His home is also a museum, and the week-long
W.C. Handy Festival has been named as one of the top festivals
in the southeast.
• Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, The Oak Ridge Boys,
Paul Simon, Percy Sledge, Natalie Cole andAngela and Zac
Hacker all recorded hit music in the Shoals?
(So did many others!)
